I may have asked this question a few weeks ago after noticing a suspicious increase in emails all coincidentally about changes in user agreements. Every single company wrote about going to arbitration and waiving the right to sue in class action. bsky.app/profile/vict...

Is anybody else noticing all the updated consumer service agreements coming into their emails recently? We’re speeding into an era of arbitration over class action to protect corporations. Pretty sure this can’t be good for the 99.99% in the US

My employer just made me sign an arbitration agreement. I've started updating my resume and expect to find a new job next year. I don't need to work for a company that thinks it is likely to violate my rights and so makes me waive some rights to protect them from the expected future violations.

Must be nice for that to be an option. I don't recall a single employer I've worked for NOT having that as part of the onboarding document package.

I've never signed one this aggressive before. It was written to cover everything and claims to be "mutual" for what i assume is legalese BS definition of mutual. I was more or less compelled to sign (ny other option was quit the job) and could not hire my own lawyer to negotiate any terms.

Civil rights law violation and family medical leave law violations all will now go to arbitration, supposedly. I've never seen these terms because no company I've ever worked at has even sort of pushed boundaries on the easy stuff like that.

Yes of course. But this was much more extensive. It tries to basically say I can't sue them ever for anything. It includes the "except if prohibited by law" line that we always see, so any lawsuit would be dependent on me or my lawyer finding the law that explicitly says we can sue in court.

That's literally the boilerplate language I've seen used in all the ones I've signed. It sucks, but it is the standard that most of us wage slaves have been signing for the past couple of decades.
