Dan: If you wear something blue, you get two dollars off a giant blue margarita. Casey: You know, I make a pretty good living. I can actually afford to wear what I want and pay full price. Dan: I'm not promoting the economic upside as much as I am the opportunity to drink something giant and blue.

Someone asked about my love of blue drinks. It started, not with Romulan Ale, but with "Dear Louise," a 1998 episode of Aaron Sorkin's SPORTS NIGHT: Dan: Come out with me. Casey: Where? Dan: El Perro Fumando. Casey: The Smoking Dog. Dan: Yes. Casey: Why? >>

So we fly a pride flag in our front yard in a very conservative neighborhood and it’s been there for the last few years. Someone put this in our mailbox and my goodness…

"All I am hearing from software engineers is that software-as-a-service is dying as a business model” Mike Nolan, who studies the politics of open source software, told 404 Media: “It’s becoming so easy to recreate the functionality that you want [with AI.]”

An excellent article by 404 Media's Jason Koebler runs down some of these hacks, including drop-in replacements for smart TV software that blocks the endless ads and surveillance that have made TVs all but unusable: www.404media.co/reverse-engi...

All Ben Franklin is going to want to talk about is all that PUSSY he POUNDED

Philip Bump@pbump.com

Even if this were viable as a concept (that there's an afterlife; that it allows conversations with others; that enslavers are going the same place as you), who cares? Oh, are you mad at me, Ben Franklin? Tough shit.

The Government™ has made an ad about all these protests happening around the world, and it’s surprisingly honest and informative.

The actual Internet service is fine. But doing any actual buiness things with them, or making any sort of account changes? Miserable and fraught.

I am so over Frontier's shit. They have the absolute worst customer service. They are why I hate ISPs. They are "the bad one" in a sea of "ugh".

Rest in Peace Walter Koenig. Thank you for navigating us through the final frontier, for your years of activism, writing, and memorable characters like the joyous Chekov and the sinister Bester. We're forever grateful that you lent your talents to our game. We'll see you again, in the stars.

The God of Bad Art gets offerings from all over the world, but in Their temple, They sometimes appear. "Why bad art?" I ask. "It is brave", the God replies. "To try and fail?" "No," the God chuckles. "Any creative work is a defiance of entropy, of Death itself. If you create, you do not fail."

Walter Koenig, was, of course, Chekov. But if you want to honor his memory by watching some of his best(sorry) work, please check out his appearance as the evil Psi-Cop "Bester" in Babylon 5. He's a fantastic presence and a great foil to all of "our heroes." Fair skies, Mr. Koenig.

Walter was more than Chekov. He was a writer, a teacher, a thoughtful man, and a loyal friend. To the fans who loved him for so many years, thank you. He loved you too. Rest well, my dear friend. Keep navigating a steady course. – George

Just last month, on Sept. 14, he turned 90, on the same day Brad and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary. I will always treasure that he and I shared that date.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

We lost Walter Koenig today. His performance as Pavel Chekov (and himself, when I learned more about the man behind the role) were part of the root of my enthusiasm for Russian language & culture. He will be missed.

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

Today is #IntersexAwarenessDay and the 30th anniversary of the first major public intersex demonstration in North America.

Both yesterday and today, I have been using my portable inkjet printer a lot at work. I honestly used to have a really low opinion of inkjets, but this one has been shockingly reliable and not shitty.
