The pattern is always the same: make a grand claim about America's "Christian founding," cite a source few people will check, and hope nobody reads the original text. Unfortunately for them, some of us actually do.

David Barton's pseudo-historian son Tim got caught citing a fake quote. He held up a book of sermons, claimed it inspired the Declaration of Independence, and quoted words that aren't in the text. This is Christian Nationalist "history" in a nutshell. www.friendlyatheist.com/p/christian-...

Even if we were a Christian nation at one time - and I know we were not - why do we have to be one now? Grow up Christian nationalists nobody wants your religion!

Yeah, but his believers will take it in without question and repeat it as fact. Then it will become a meme and get air time. Spreading the real facts is a defense.

It is beyond insane people can still make this claim, and it's always the most extreme fundamentalist Christians making it. Fundy interpretation of Christian doctrine is literally antithetical to the 1st amd. No such thing as freedom of religion in the Bible, or free speech, association, protest etc
