America is not a Christian nation. It was never founded as one. That doesn't stop 45% of Americans from saying we *should be* a Christian nation. This election is our chance to show up loudly on the side of secular democracy. Vote Nov. 3, or vote early today in most states. ffrf.us/vote

Do you think the researchers spelled what that would truly entail to the survey takers? I hate to think this many people can’t think this through or lack the basic empathy and constitutional knowledge.

It all comes down to how the question is phrased. A lot of people will see that question and think _we've always been a Christian nation_ and not think that the question implies an erosion of the separation of church and state. If you asked the opposite question, you'd likely get at least 60%.

Radical Christianists want Sharchrista Law *US Women to wear Christianist-approved clothes *Nonewhite Christians & nonChristians forced to follow Sharchrista Law or be imprisoned *US women not to attend university, hold jobs, own property *LGBTQ+ to face imprisonment

Let’s assume they got it. Would they be happy? No. Then they’d argue about which version is correct and divide into factions, fight wars over it, and with some version most didn’t want. Keeping church and state separate actually protects YOUR version of Christianity.
