Cheaper and quicker

In the UK we have to pay for our electricity from a rate based on fossil fuel production. If we could choose to buy renewable energy, at a price based on renewable production, the discussion would be unarguable.

Any additional renewable capacity also helps reduce the need for energy imports and thus exposure to price and exchange rate fluctuations (as seen in Europe after 2022). Burn once, import forever becomes import once use forever (or at least decades).
