Yeah some unsolicated hot takes in no particular order 1. React is better than everything that came before it and I haven't seen anything do it better 2. Hooks are genius 3. If you've never done frontend on a moderately large app, you probably underestimate frontend engineering

it’s always funny to me when people try to paint react as some kind of “big company” propaganda. it was like one person’s wild idea and then there was at most ~5 people maintaining it for years. people HATED it when fb open sourced it. the only reason it won is because the model was actually good

wow a hot take thats actually a hot take (because it's completely and utterly wrong), svelte at least (and probably solid/vue too) is soo much better than react

"I agree" says the 5k file with 100s of jsx components Jokes aside, from my experience, it's far easier to mess up jsx than the other two An then, I really enjoy {#if} and {#each} much more than .map and multiple ternary conditions, how can jsx be better?

Same with svelte though: feel free to put your styles in separate css files and your scripts in separate ts files ;) I think giving the option to colocate though is nice, honestly maybe the *only* thing i like about react vs svelte is that i can put multiple components in one file

one global css file works in both react or svelte, good luck getting component scoped css to work in react though

I’ve used css modules for a decade with very little problems Imo some of the guarantees stylex gives you beat out hand authoring css for me (especially for codebases servings 50+ Frontend devs). But that’s a much different convo 🙃 It does give you everything in a single file though (just all js)

Aren’t css modules imported per file not per component? (I suppose svelte css is per file too though, just that that always means one component) But in the end, colocation’s usually great (as an option at least) and something that react does a lot of as well (like stylex) just usually by inventing…

… new random dsls, apis etc (not a knock on stylex, imo way preferable to having an extra css file, plus you get lots of other benefits too like you said) I *do* like svelte’s “oh you’d like to colocate/componentize things but don’t want to learn another DSL? Here you go”
