I have a feeling there's a *lot* more kicking and screaming to be done first.

I don't think it will pop. I think more companies will just stop paying a premium for AI features but will be to afraid of rocking the boat to say anything. One by one investors will quietly stop pumping new money into it and the companies will slow down development stretching what money they have.
