Really fantastic writeup by @moh-kohn.eurosky.social about the power of HTML-first sites (and @astro.build!) My humble opinion is that 90% of websites don't need Next.js, React, or other hefty client-side frameworks—they just need static pages and the occasional form

This linked article—about a woman applying for housing benefits using the web browser on a PSP—is going to be in my head for awhile
When i first built oaklandca.gov back in 2018 i tested the site at Oakland’s Public Library, and tried weird browsers like using my PS3 or PS4, and then ended up also testing in 2022. Made sure everything at the time ran with *just* HTML and server side rendering via @craftcms.com.
Sad that the agency that came in and pushed me out later moved the whole thing to a third-party SaaS, because it really made me happy knowing that the site i developed was battle tested and would work no matter what kind of browser you threw at it.

Of course had that been the case, i never would have had @chimeracoder.bsky.social become such a big part of my life, nor moved out to New York so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
