Yes. It would be amusing to watch, even with all the advantages that total control would give them, as they speed-run all the infrastructural problems of any city, plus those of the far north. They would likely freeze next to a pile of their own sewage.

The 900+ Billionaires in the US are the problem. They control the media, they buy up middle class housing for cash and then rent so people can’t own their own home. They buy their politicians to serve their greed, they destroy the environment without regard,… Speak out! We are all in this together.

Same in Ireland. We hv a constantly worsening housing shortage in Ireland for 40 years thanks to two main parties that dominate since independence. A constant flow of empty promises has pushed prices up all over the country, making our theoretically well off population slaves to their mortgages.

They got the memo 👍 "Extremely powerful tech billionaires is behind the plan to turn Greenland into a libertarian crypto sanctuary" "Ekstremt magtfulde techmilliardærer står bag plan om at gøre Grønland til libertær krypto-fristad" (4/16/2025, paywalled) - Politiken politiken.dk/viden/tech/a...

The tech billionaires have more than enough money to buy a chunk of land somewhere and just fuck off to it and make this fever dream come true. Why bother dragging the rest of us along. Problem solved.

Because if billionaires lists these tech exclaves as their legal country of residence, then they will be exempt from taxation and they will expect the rest of us to pick up the National debt. Their goal is the elimination of nation states and replacing them with these corporate tech mini countries.

I almost hate to say this, but we kinda need them to go ahead and do a pilot project, so that the idea leaves the realm of ideological pipedream and becomes a reality (albeit in limited form). That's the only way I can think of that the faults in their beautiful model become apparent.

This idea is dumb and was likely created by someone who doesn’t or has never lived in the North. You will never convince that people to move to Greenland. The cost of living, the cold, the never ending darkness in the winter. There is a reason only 50k people live in Greenland or 700k in Alaska.

I know. I live in Alaska. We had the lowest snowfall on record this winter where I’m at. Since December of last year we’ve had on average 35-40 degree weather, 10-20 mph wind, and rain. Never ending rain. With a week of sunny days sprinkled in. It’s a lifestyle that most can’t handle.
