I'm a single issue voter, and I want you to be too: We should keep democracy. Bad faith argument = block

Pretty amazing that we can thank Jan Crawford of CBS News -- trying to treat this like a gotcha -- for making this go viral.

This is Tommy. Tommy had a question about my allegiances. Listen to the end to hear about his.

It also sets up "history and tradition" as a quasi-official legal premise which a) justices can (and have) fabricate out of whole cloth, and b) there is no truly official historical record or body to counteract what justices declare to be historical.

Bill Kristol@billkristolbulwark.bsky.social

“Originalism is an incoherent doctrine. It allows you to prove anything. Thus what it amounts to is a ritual invocation of the Founders, gesturing at this or that piece of text, before delivering whatever conclusion was approved on Fox News the night before.” www.liberalcurrents.com/we-have-no-s...

It's true that historians can file amicus briefs, but that goes for historians on both sides of an issue, and they hold no real leverage: justices remain free to cherry-pick their preferred narratives.

I know "this is art" is pretty played out, but if this isn't art, I don't know what is.

Trust me: whatever you’re doing right now is less important than watching this candidate interview. No spoilers, just trust:

This entire thread is spot on.

There's a school of thought which suggests that the only way to disable the fascist movement is to stop shielding MAGA voters from the consequences of their actions. Well, now that the GOP administration is disabling disease surveillance, response, and even basic research, there's no shield. 1/ 🧵

Bookmarking this conversation because a) I use agentic coding tools heavily for my work, but b) readily confess that while I've gotten pretty good and getting quality work out of them, I don't have a great understanding of how LLMs work. And that's a vulnerability! Which I should fix (man or not)!

These men who say factually and technically wrong things with such confidence are so fascinating to me. HE doesn't know what a language model is and thinks that OUR formulation is wrong. Because HE conflates language models with anything and everything else.

More than "some"... Nearly a third of them -- 12k out of 46k -- are fake. A simple metric for how much they want to plunder our retirements.

Kirby frame: Republicans oppose mail voting because it makes voting easier, and when more people vote, they tend to lose. They suppress voting to stay in power.

Democracy Docket@democracydocket.com

📬 Restricting mail voting is a core component of Trump’s plan to undermine the 2026 midterms. And yet, when it came time to cast his own ballot this month, Trump voted by mail — again. 🤔 Confronted with this hypocrisy, Trump has used a convenient excuse: https://demdock.com/3U4wOwA

Watching a TV show where the press cliche "the public deserves to know!" gets dropped, and honestly? Most of the public doesn't give a shit and would back the villain if they did. What they *should* say is that America deserves to be told the truth. That's a different and more important thing.

"...here, for the first known time in US and world history, you had the president of the United States on a plane that no one outside of the US government knew about..."

NEW: CBP is shopping for a contractor to track down people the US has deported to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala and collect unpaid immigration fines — debts that can top $1.8 million a person.

I'd go further and say that it's the perfect microcosm of the Republican party in the Trump era.

Even if it’s a kinder gentler prison with a reduced population that you’re envisioning after seeing a documentary about a Western European nation’s prison, it’s still a prison. Its reform. Not abolition. You just want to say a word that you’ve given no meaning
