Had my 24hrs of intensive medical testing, and I'm happy to say I'm now documentably alive and have a brain in my head. Despite 10 min of distorted disco on the headphones while I was haloed up and stuffed in the MRI tube. The bald chest spots from the EKG will take longer to recover, I fear.

One of them plays ads for Zurich Insurance in the loop. The other has a problem with forcing disco on immobilized patients. I still prefer the disco pushers. At least the beat occasionally syncs with the bonging of the MRI

Now I have to scrape my sorry ass up earlyish tomo because an old, old friend is stuck at ZRH overnight due to flight issues from HK and I'd be remiss not to have a coffee with him... Good thing I can drive to parking 2 at ZRH in my sleep.

To emphasize how dodgy this club was, it was eventually shut down after the bouncers beat a kid unconscious and left him to die in the snow at -30C. Probably run by the Russian mob. Definitely sold "vodka" made by the Anhui Biological Chemical Company. Had a lot of broken-nose big Russian dudes...

I'd blown my back at about the same time due to someone chucking a russian over the balcony and on to my neck at a deeply dodgy bar, but got "western medicine"- a muscle relaxant that whapped me out, too. We were a couple of drooling incompetents together for about 2 wks.

As an amusing anecdote, when we worked together in Harbin in 04(?) he threw his back out. The doc gave him Chinese medicine, which was a giant ball of black tarry stuff, to be subdivided and eaten at regular intervals. Whapped him right out. We later realized the ball was mostly hash, with other..

Hey, do I have any friends here that do any sound engineering/editing work by chance? I have a ≈2 minute sound clip of a patient’s heartbeat that I need cleaned up for a patient’s family, and I don’t know that I have the ability to do it myself.
