Ok, but we need a D on the general in November. Ballots have already been mailed, kind of late to try to rally for someone else. The only two that seem to have a chance right now are Becerra and Steyer.

Beware any influencers that suddenly started portraying Xavier Becerra as strong, masterful leader within the past few weeks. This operation exposed some kind of weird propaganda network in our midst. No way there was a sudden outpouring of organic passion for an Empty Suit at 4% in the polls.

Absolutely. Almost immediately after Swalwell dropped I was getting dozens of Becerra texts. Usually these go to spam, but his were getting through.

And influencers who had never evinced any interest in California politics suddenly began squawking non-stop about the alleged splendors of Becerra leadership. LOL

I like Katie Porter. I can't figure out why she has so little traction. Becerra has the establishment imprimatur, so maybe we're stuck with him. Steyer, well, nothing personal but I just refuse to vote for rich people who use money to muscle their way in.

I like her a lot too, but find myself leaning toward Steyer because unless he's flat out lying - so far I don't feel like he is - he has a broader vision for where CA should go and is able to communicate that well. I want Porter to have a large role in the administration, just not in the lead role.

I have an algorithmic rule. A self-funded campaign is like a self-published book. It's an end run around process. Steyer might be totally fine, but I want someone who came up through a political process, not by buying their way in. This might sound silly but if I make ad hoc tweaks, it's not a rule

The fact that Xavier Becerra is a serious candidate for public office is a testament to that lack of understanding. Becerra presided over 800K American COVID deaths as HHS secretary. I don’t care how much you like him, any way you slice it, that’s a catastrophe, and he bears responsibility.

“It’s like: ‘We need to figure out a candidate who can win!’ But then…(Becerra)? Really?’ said one former Biden administration official.”

How do you personally know this about him? Have you worked with him in the past? There are other voices in this Politico article saying positive things and I wonder why they'd defend him if he's that terrible. I'm just trying to learn more so I can make a difficult choice. Thanks.

I hope people read the whole article - it is mixed. "I think Secretary Becerra was one of the most effective members of the president’s Cabinet and delivered on the president’s agenda very powerfully and had a record,” [Ron] Klain said.

I respect your opinions, but I have to say, gee, what a surprise, Politico is running a story bashing a Dem who is doing well. Who woulda thunk it.

That may be. But I don't count Politico getting a bunch of anonymous quotes bashing a Democrat as anything approaching the truth. Especially when there are other people, willing to go on the record, who are saying the opposite. Bottom line is, 1/2

Yup! The California Federation of Teachers & the CA School Employees Association also endorse him. The largest & most powerful unions have endorsed Steyer. Listen to the teachers and the nurses! bsky.app/profile/jord...

NEW: SEIU California joins California Nurses Association, United Domestic Workers, California Teachers Association, IATSE and other unions backing Tom Steyer.

While disparaging a Latino son of immigrants, who (1) served 24 yrs in House (2) repeatedly defeated Trump regime as Attorney General, winning landmark victories upholding DACA, ACA, and environmental protection laws, & (3) understands California & DC inside out? Que pasa?

I’m trying to figure out why tons of white voters are supporting an old white billionaire, with no gov’t experience, who made his fortune investing in fossil fuels & private prisons, & who’s using his ill-gotten gains to buy public office ($175MM in this race, $350MM in presidential run
