There has never been a better time to accept and vocalize that Jews and the Israeli government are not the same thing. Yes, the Israeli government has worked hard for decades to make us believe opposing its actions is inherently antisemitic. But it isn’t true. It never was.

It’s all about AIPAC, Trump and Netanyahu are simply trying to stay out of prison. Trump is doing Netanyahu’s bidding and fighting/funding a war on Israel’s behalf, all the while still giving Israel $10 million dollars a day, paying for Israel ls health care and free education

You are totally correct. I see it as 2 things. Jews escaping the pale of settlement and Jews left to die at the hands of the white supremists. The survivors of white supremacy went to Palestine as nobody wanted them. Those who escaped the pale of settlement fund the ones who didn’t. THE JEW CARD

A number of polls suggest otherwise. And there's chilling videos of classes in Israel. The indoctrination starts early there. That kind of hate is learned and inherited. That there are some who oppose it and protest and refuse to join the army is heartening, but there's a long way to go.

I know many who were born there, travel often and have family there…. They say the government of Israel is NOT seeking/desires peace. And to live there; missiles alarms are a normal part of life. Shelters; well stocked and known. I shared their point of views…. not my opinion

No argument there, the government of Israel is clearly not thinking about peace, we can all see that. I only disagreed with the idea that Israelis in general want peace, because that has also been clearly shown to not be the case. I'm so glad there are people there who do & I'm rooting for them.

I am a Jew and proud of our tradition, which has nothing to do with how Netanyahu is running Israel. I feel similarly about rapists, who do not represent me or all men.

Unless those who call themselves Jews state that Israel and Jews are not the same, they will be the same. Those Europeans who claim to be Jewish want sympathy after planting themselves in the middle east already occupied by non-Europeans.

That story by the Israeli government has been immeasurably helped by the reality that anti-zionists often ARE anti-semites.

Which is why I always say: I am anti-Zionistic, but not anti-Israeli or anti-Jewish people. And you are 100% right. Opposing any government is not hate speech. Governments are not individual people. Great point!!!!

96% of Israeli Js support the genocide. It would have to be 100% for the oft touted claim to be true, but it is not far off. 4% is a very small minority. In the diaspora, 60% support the genocide. That still makes the rest a minority. That said, the minority deserve to be safe from bigotry.

Israel is like Rhodesia or Apartheid South Africa if they tried to frame all Dutch people globally as responsible for their crimes and inhumanity. 75 years running.

But Israeli voters have made it clear that they are pro-ethnic-cleansing. So most Israeli voters are also to blame for the Government's genocide. We have a Govt saying it must do the will of its people, while the people vote and poll in favour of genocide. Do we blame voters or Govt?

Opposing Netanyahu isn't antisemitic. Chanting for the ethnic cleansing of Jews out of the Levant is. Assaulting random Jews on the street/beach/synagogue because you're angry with Israel is. It does go both ways. If they're using 'anti-Zionism' as an excuse to be a bigot, they're still a bigot.

First, I agree with you. An assault like this would happen because the the attacker is anti-semitic, not because they are angry with Israel. They just blame Israel to justify the pre-existing bigotry.

Also saying israel as a country shouldn't exist is antisemitic. Its a common take I've seen online to claim that Israel only existed because of colonialism despite the fact that they used to live their before they were enslaved by the romans.

Correct. There is still always the danger that antisemites will use this fact to promote lies and deceit about Jews. Jews must speak out to keep this distinction clear and viable. Netanyahu and his genocidal cabal WANT to blur this critical distinction to blunt all criticism of their fascism.

This is very true. I had a long discussion with an 80 year old man about this. He pointed out that the Israeli government have always been shady. Jonathan pollard was provided a pension after his release from a u.s. prison for stealing our nuclear secrets. He was released early and moved to Israel.

I was just talking about this with my husband last night! No one considers criticism of the Nazi regime to be anti-Christian, and yet Christianity was a large part of the Nazi platform.

I don't think most of us associate the Israeli govt with Jewish people. I also don't assume every Jew is Israeli or everyone in Israel is Jewish. I think the people doing it are disingenuous with their concern

I’m old enough to remember and ponder the brave new country of Israel that was a home for Jews post centuries of discrimination in Europe & Russia. I still don’t know if I was duped. Non Jews idealistically went there to work on kibbutzes thinking they were communes, perhaps it was always to go bad

Oh hun, Israel and the Jewish people are not the same thing AND most of your rhetoric is just rooted in antisemitic lies. In 1948 there was one marginally Jewish state and seven Arab states, of which five tried to wipe out Israel (and two of those wiped out Palestine instead).

Today there are twenty two Arab countries, and still just one marginally Jewish country, and yet you lot are obsessed with Israel. Why? Because "those Jews."

Here's a question and I honestly want to know . I have seen jews in other countries speak out against the Israeli government but, with in israel everything you see is how the citizens back it fully. You see what they do to not only the Palestinians but also the Christians.

You do see video of newly military aged saying no to service but everyone else seems to be cheering . You also see video of Israelis in other countries demanding to be treated special. What's the difference between the two .

An excellent point - still disappointing because many Jews support Israel - recent poll in the Uk was shocking in their support for Israel, never mind the US & Canada. Still, Jews march alongside us & that is great to see. We all need to do more to show that distinction. Challenging times.

The vast number of US Christian Zionists supports your point. An agenda cloaked in religion makes it palatable as followers are conditioned to ‘believe’ without questioning their religion. If not, they’re told they lack faith and will face everlasting heII. Quite a handy tool to enact an agenda.
