ICYMI, LA Taco has parted ways with two of its most fearless ICE reporters, Memo Torres and Izzy Ramirez (@eltragon.bsky.social and @izzymirez.bsky.social on here). Neither says why, but it sounds like it was sudden and involuntary.

I have no idea what happened but people saying theyre ditching political coverage are wrong. Many reporters, including @shoton35mm.bsky.social, are still there, and they've been doing politics reporting since before 2025.

There's more to the story than what's been said so far. But yes, Nicholas is right. There are multiple reporters there covering politics and non-food stories. The outlet doesn't live and die by one person.

Helluva time to do this in the middle of an ICE surge + a mass arrest / prosecution of long time LPRs for alleged (nonexistent) voter fraud. @eltragon.bsky.social has provided critical accounts of ICE’s misconduct in SoCal for us advocates (and LA locals). Is this a funding issue? Hostile takeover?
