I'm genuinely shocked at how wildly negative the response is to this. Before I used Cursor I thought AI programming was bullshit and skill issues. I'm currently outpacing most of my very awesome team and they're turning to me for recommendations on AI-first Editors that are largely VSCode forks.

Today I was able to create the nicest GitHub Actions CI workflow I've ever built. This thing has Slack Integrations, preview URLs on a self-hosted AWS, SST-based deploy pipeline, pnpm caching, GitHub Comment updates that re-use the same comment so they're not spammy. I wrote very, very little code.

Seeing negative responses to GitHub trying to AI-supercharge VSCode. If you've spent the last 3 months touching grass and not focusing on new tools, I get it. But this new era of AI editors is not just GitHub Copilot giving you autocomplete. Maybe Bsky Tech folks already know this, but here we go:

It seems people a) think copilot is still just auto completions in vscode or b) they will never be as good as cursor. Apparently there is little room in between. Im learning to use copilot chat and edits more and more (specially foreign legacy projects) but matching or exceeding cursor can only be a

good thing, right? What is the worst that can happen if you like cursor? It's still your no.1? Good. Or copilot comes with a killer feature cursor doesn't have? That means they will make it and maybe even make it better. Let them drive each other to greater tools for us, everyone wins.

Yeah we’re in the middle of a race and it’s moving so quickly that people with lives are having a hard time staying abreast of what all is possible

I'm currently in my 4th week of trying CursorAI and I'm really disappointed event though I used some .cursorrules templates from the community. Only for really simple things it's solving/generating it right away without me needed to tweak it afterwards. Anyone else made similar experience?

In the last 4 weeks Cursor oversold, got too much traffic, and so they nerfed their experience in November before releasing an update last night. I will try competitors at some point soon but fyi it wasn’t great and you’re not crazy

i used the trial Cursor plan. CoPilot Edit is comparable for 1/2 price. i disable the CoPilot autocomplete and use free Supermaven instead (much faster). Before CoPilot introduced Edit I was using the Cline extension (formerly Claude Dev) which is also nice, but you need to provide your own API key.

I'm in. These πŸ‘†πŸΌ commenter folks seem a bit grumpy for whatever reason. Granted Atom was first, VSCode and Copilot have changed my opinion of Microsoft because I think they learned a lot from it.
