i immediately suspected mostly because it seemed like an interesting plot device as well as the obvious thing that character would do in that situation

dan@danabra.mov

my wife guessed the plot twist back in s02e01, i didn’t see it coming at all but apparently there was enough to pick up on! gotta rewatch at some point

To give a example, the Dublin market seems to be set up where be devs outnumber the frontenders, the be folks are mostly python and java, they end up in management more often, and are generally universally shocked by all the churn with fe tech. Vite SPA's and query just work by 5pm there.

Most large successful enterprises are now allowing JS on servers at all. They have backends and API written in different languages by different teams. It's ridiculous to think that's going to change any time soon or even that it should. Full-Stack JS represents such a small part of reality.

recent shows i enjoyed in no particular order: - The Penguin - Only Murders in the Building - What We Do in the Shadows - Wyatt Earp & the Cowboy War - Mr. McMahon

If you’re looking for a satisfying series to watch, here are some I would recommend: - The Mare of Easttown - No Good Deed - Broadchurch - Succession - Queen Charlotte (no, really) - Dead to me, season one - Catastrophe - The Haunting of Hill House (if you don’t mind thriller)

good read. i wasn't nearly as repulsed by the original chesky interview, but i did find myself thinking that the proposed CEO involvement in every aspect of everything didn't really seem realistic or even useful in most scenarios.

I (finally) wrote up my thoughts on "Founder Mode" and the Brian Chesky morality tale about how he turned around Airbnb company culture. This has made it into the Silicon Valley water table; it must be dealt with. There are some good nuggets within; let's dig them out. charity.wtf/2024/12/17/f...

and don't under estimate the power of a good .cursorrules or copilot-instructions.md file. there a few good directories you can use as a start cursor.directory or cursorlist.com it's so useful to be able to declare your preferred coding style, frameworks/libraries, naming conventions, & other rules

You should download Cursor or one of their competitors and try it. When I was told by my friend to try it, he advised me to stay away from the keyboard. Only prompting - just to learn and see what these things are really capable of. I'm having an absolute blast learning how to program differently.

i'm a big fan of shottr.cc makes it easy to set a screenshot folder, annotate screenshots, save them OR just copy to clipboard, since 90% of my screenshots i just need to draw an arrow and paste to Slack, then trash it.

I like this one too! I use both because I like the idea that it’s organized in a screenshots folder even if I can’t see it. I also use a tool called Cleanshot, it helps review the screenshots, etc, you can make gifs and videos, etc.

i love using this lib w iconify & tailwindcss-icons 🔥 github.com/egoist/tailw...

🌠 The best icon pack in the world right now, IMO, is Lucide (lucide.dev). It builds on @colebemis.com’s incredible work with Feather Icons, extending it from ~300 icons to >1500. It has fully-typed bindings for React and many other frameworks. And I just found out: they’re even more optimized! 🧵

yay! i love this extension, although i think i modified it over the years.. 🤔 this may have been the exact change i made

Ben Hong@bencodezen.io

Vue VSCode Snippets v3.2.0 has just been released with the new script setup snippet at the top of the file. 🎉 Big thanks to @sarahedo.bsky.social for all her hard work on this extension. This project would not be possible without her! 🙏 marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemNa...

my tiny equivalent of this is: - redesign/rewrite my blog site - “i’m going to write/post a new article every week!” - maintain that pace for ~3 weeks - repeat next year

prior to that, i jus' built things because i could and i like doing it that is still the case somewhat but at some point the scale flipped and it almost became like an obligation. "need to build, need to post, need to feed the algorithm"

Nightowl is the 🐐 i used to change themes every other week, but i’ve been on Nightowl for like 5 years. tried switching a few times, but always end up back on Nightowl

Hello new and old followers! Sometimes I make VS Code themes: - There’s Night Owl (most used, good for colorblindness) - Then a friend asked for a theme for people who are in bed by 7pm - and a Fortnite theme with chaos and chickens Enjoy!

Introduce yourself with some jobs you’ve done apart from what you do now: - audio engineer - producer/beat maker - wedding DJ - photographer/videographer - motion designer - inside sales - UPS unloader - line cook - waiter

Introduce yourself with some jobs you’ve done apart from what you do now: - yard care and janitorial - DJ (weddings and church dances) - Video editor (weddings, a TV show, commercials, high school performances) - Media digitizer - data center tech - Church missionary - AV tech - computer lab tech

new @github.com copilot features are 🔥! but i would really love the equivalent of a `.cursorrules` file that I can add to each workspace. or at least the ability to amend the system message with some coding style guidelines.

a peet peeve i have w @bsky.app is that every time i post/edit something the toast message pops up blocking the back button i then want to hit and i can’t swipe it out off the way and have to wait. minor but annoying. anyone else?

You are up to date.
