57 years ago today, humans first landed on the Moon. The source code that helped get them there? It’s on GitHub. Margaret Hamilton led the MIT team responsible for Apollo’s onboard flight software. (Image credit: Draper Laboratory; restoration by Adam Cuerden, via Wikimedia Commons.)

Our finest mathematicians are women. It’s good they’re wired slightly different. Solutions appear when approached from slightly different angles.

Wow. @github.com you should be so happy that several of your followers have successfully read past the facts to create the incorrect notion that Margaret Hamilton of Nasa fame is the same as Margaret Hamilton from Hollywood (and born decades prior). WTG!

I've seen this before but assumed her to be the actress. Nope, she was not. The main thing I missed was that she did her work in the mid 50s when the movie was released in 1939, so the work was done on that in the mid 30s. Good to know,

What happened after this momentous event?! I feel we have regressed since then maybe a slight glitch with the Hadron Collider but then the whole god damn planet has dumbed down to Trump level proportions 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I remember laboriously typing out those listings from magazines, trying for days to get a game to work, only to find in the next month's issue a bunch of corrections. It was a great, if haphazard, way to learn debugging.

Let’s use code to salvage our earth and fix it before it becomes like the moon or mars! Invest in reforestation and climate adaptation GitHub. Invest in climate information and in clean energy against the deadly fossil fuel economy of fires and floods. Every fraction of a degree matters 💚🌎✌️

1MgHz 2K of Ram (core memory) and 32k of ROM for the software. Margaret Hamilton is 90 next month, and created the term software engineering, she's not received a Turing, I have no idea why.

For whatever it's worth Margaret Hamilton the actress *loved* children, and had a good relationship with Judy Garland. Ms. Hamilton jumped at the chance to host her eye doctor's grandchildren visiting the sights of NYC in the summer of 1969. They were my younger brother and sister.
