"Jeff, you got some more album art fun facts?" Me: "A hand puppet of Ernie from Sesame Street was originally featured in a crowd scene photo on the back cover of Green Day’s “Dookie” album. Ernie was airbrushed out of the photo from later pressings due to possible copyright infringement."

The Minutemen named their album “Double Nickels on the Dime” (1984) as a reaction to the Sammy Hagar song “I Can’t Drive 55.” The cover shows Mike Watt driving at exactly 55 miles per hour (“double nickels” in trucker slang) on Interstate 10 (“The Dime” in trucker slang).

The photo of the girl smoking on the cover of “Green Mind” (1991) by Dinosaur Jr was taken by photographer Joseph Szabo in 1969 at Jones Beach. He did not get her name, but titled the photo “Priscilla.”
