This is encouraging news. 🙌

Scientists have discovered that severely bleached corals can make a remarkable comeback simply by touching healthy, genetically identical corals. Using this research may help marine biologists aid the recovery of bleached reefs: www.sciencedaily.com/releases/202...

I’m struggling to comprehend just what a colossal dickhead this guy is.

“Palantir cofounder and CEO Alex Karp states ‘AI will undermine the influence of highly educated, often female voters and give it to working class men. We have feminine energy running our cities and our courts,’ he complained.”

Trump on El-Sayed: "We can't him in the United States-- we can't have him in the United States Senate. I look so forward to Michigan. I think it's gonna be wild. Because he's a total phony. He's a little phony. He's a jihadist. He's a vicious, violent jihadist."

2 flu seasons? In this economy?!

Kid Rock on Fox & Friends: "It appears that El-Sayed is assimilated ... and I would like to make the point that there have been other people who have assimilated to this country. The Fort Hood shooter. Those extremists that became pilots and crashed into our World Trade Center."

This would have been a much better bit if he said “your son leaves as Jimmy and comes home in three days as Jimothy”. 🦝

Trump: "They want to cut your children. It's unbelievable what they do. Your son leaves as Jimmy and comes home in three days as Janet, and they don't even ask you. They can take your child out of school and do whatever the hell they want. Minnesota is one of those states."

This is what I've concluded. The Anthropic experimenters must make public what they have done in the experiments that led to the deleterious effects they describe. They should do it at some level of detail, avoiding the shorthand of anthropomorphization.

In other words, it is the job of scientists to devise experiments that can test their claims, to always be cautious abt what they are claiming, and to critically evaluate the claims of other scientists. By these well-established standards, no serious science is happening behind Anthropic's claims.

This was a phenomenal ad. Maybe I’m an easy mark but I remember being very moved by this in ‘99.

The reality is that studios can spend the next 10 years throwing hundreds of millions of dollars into AI-produced, algorithm-driven "content" and yet they'll never produce a work even a fraction as emotionally evocative as a 90 second Volkswagen ad from 1999 youtu.be/_-kqUkZnDcM?...
