So the microSD is the stuffing, the SD is the Chicken, the CF is the Duck, and the PCMCIA is the Turkey. Took me a minute to put the microSD in the picture properly 😆

It's genuinely impressive how long IDE, itself not much more than ISA over a cable, has clung on in modern computing. It's RS232 for storage, it'll never go away.

The only other possible name for it would be Koshchei the Deathless.

Well, to be fair, there *is* quite a bit of complexity, but it was in the design process for all those adapters. The engineers who figured it out managed to simplify the end user experience to just plugging things in the only way they fit together without forcing them.
