The Steam review system has become entirely destructive and counter-productive for indie devs. I've seen so many great games lately tanked by one bad review from someone who just didn't "vibe" with the game and couldn't keep quiet. Only takes 1 bad one on launch day to ruin years of work!

I agree. But the problem is always going to be there if you don't have a minimum threshold of reviews before a rating is offered. Indie devs have to really think like marketers to thwart this bad platform design. The way to drown out bad reviews is by encouraging good ones.

Ive had 80+ positive reviews on my launch week but that one singular negative review from a player who played my previous game and completely ruined that first week launch 🤷‍♀️ there’s only so much we can do by ourselves

Breaks my heart to hear it, really and truly. I'm so sorry your hard work would be treated so. I do surveys for a living and we would treat a single negative review in a data set full of positives as an unimportant outlier, not a valid point of view. Steam should be doing the same.
