Bluesky devs.. How about a compromise. Support inbound RSS. Let me enter the URL of an RSS feed in settings. I'll ping a fixed location when the feed updates. Such a system would allow the same flow to go to other systems. This would help a lot. PS: I'll help.

Ah I think you’re looking for a central authority. That will never, ever, happen. Due to the distributed nature of ATproto. But for the record, I think you’re 100% incorrect here. It’s quite demonstrably enough, and impossible to fake. The DNS system is also much much more reliable

I am interested in thoughtfully solving the Web of Trust problem once and for all. And will fund it. But it has to be true to ATproto & OG internet principles of not locking out new participants, just deboosting repeat bad actors; and it has to not be counter to whatever is on the bluesky roadmap.

There's so many ways this could be dealt with effectively. Could enter additional email addresses that must be verified by your corporate mothership or institution, and they are appended to the DID as verified metadata. Likewise, an org could shitcan someone's verification if they became hacked.

Then we get into stuff like adding ORCID iD verification. A domain name verified by a user doesn't mean much when you consider how many SMBs give access to domain registrars and DNS, and how access control on those services is usually shite.
