We know students, like the rest of the world, are using AI. Teachers need to be equipped to deal w/all the issues AI creates. Our approach starts with maximizing safety & privacy and empowering educators to make educational decisions, so AI tools can benefit not harm www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-ne...

nbcnews.comAI has become the norm for students. Teachers are playing catch-up.At a New York City training session, educators explored how artificial intelligence could support teaching while also discussing their concerns around the technology.

The article you’re sharing touts a teacher making students use “A.i.” to design ugly sweaters. That’s a repugnant use of tech based on theft to rob kids of the chance to use their own minds and hands to actually draw. Do you support that attack on human creativity?

Furthermore, the companies you've partnered with, including OpenAI, are run by Trump supporting billionaires. You're giving them access to children's minds via this technology. These billionaires have the power to use "A.i." to push right wing and even Nazi propaganda, as we've seen with Musk.

How do you justify helping give these morally and ethically repugnant billionaires access to teachers and children via their tech, which is based on theft and notorious for both incorrectness, disinformation, and racist/bigoted propaganda?

You also say, "Teachers need to know the tool" and then promise "we are fighting for legal safeguards." But you've partnered with OpenAI to create your "AI Academy." Why should we trust you to curb the obvious harms of "A.i." when you've partnered with the creator of ChatGPT?

What the hell was the girl supposed to learn from her suspension, anyways? “If you and your friends are being sexually harassed and speak up, the adults will work tirelessly to ruin your life and drive you to panic attacks?”

The principal just completely fucking failed here and doesn't seem to acknowledge that fact at all. He says he didn't find anything when this was out in the open, I don't think he looked. Then he punished the girl knowing she'd been right the whole time

The whole thing smacks of “boys will be boys” rape apologism and victim blaming. These adults can’t be trusted with the safety of the girls in their care.

Please comment on the fact that "A.i." tools like the ones your partners push are regularly creating fake citations when used in academic papers. Why are you pushing these flawed tools on teachers and children? www.rollingstone.com/culture/cult...

rollingstone.comAI Is Inventing Academic Papers That Don't Exist -- And They're Being Cited in Real JournalsAcademic articles from authors using large language model are creating an ecosystem of fake research that threatens human knowledge itself.

I've heard that some teachers have students fact-check statements generated by ChatGPT as a dual-lesson in both research and just how breathtakingly wrong LLMs often are. So basically showing kids by example exactly why GenAI is never to be used as a primary source.

Let's not "burn" the proverbial "Giordano Bruno at the stake!" LLM technology is open source & available through Linux—we need to build public models & not waste energy chasing monopolist windmills. It's one thing to diagnose a problem, another to pick at a scab, another still to rub salt in wounds.
