I'm glad they're all pushing for a vote on the Khanna/Massie War Powers resolution. I think they should similarly get behind impeachment.

People say what's the point of impeachment? It'll fail. The War Powers resolution will possibly (probably?) fail as well, like the Venezuelan War Powers resolution. You push for both because both are required responses to the illegality we're facing.

Sanders' statement. Very clearly anti-war. But still the same practical ask as Schumer and every other D (except Landsman, who seems to entirely support the war) that I've seen - a vote on the War Powers resolution. bsky.app/profile/sand...

Slotkin's statement on the other end of the spectrum. Doesn't explicitly call for a vote on the War Powers resolution - just says Trump "hasn't followed the Constitution" and "Congress should come back to Washington to debate these issues." bsky.app/profile/slot...

Harris's statement. Clearly anti-war - says even if Congress had approved this as constitutionally required, "that does not change the fact that this action is unwise, unjustified, and not supported by the American people." bsky.app/profile/kama...

Harris interestingly does not make a big deal of the need to vote on the War Powers resolution. Just concludes "Congress must use all available power to prevent [Trump] from further committing us to this conflict." Honestly, that might be STRONGER than just talking about the War Powers resolution...

...because Harris is saying the primary goal here is opposing this "war of choice." Schumer don't explicitly say that. A War Powers resolution vote could just lead to VALIDATING Trump's war - Harris is saying NO, the war is fucked up no matter what. I appreciate that!

Harris does NOT talk here about the fact that this war is injuring and killing Iranian civilians. I very much hope she adds that to her future statements. I also hope she elaborates on how Ds should oppose this war - cutting of funding? Impeachment? Please keep talking!
