A college buddy asked me about my transition from a racism-is-bad liberal in the 1990s to a much more left lefty today lol. Found myself talking about police violence, the horrific attacks on trans people, and the role of billionaires in making so many things worse. No one gets left behind.

The older I get, the more clear it is that all our safety and well-being is intertwined. The same forces pushing racism are targeting trans people and immiserating the disabled and extracting everything they can from all of us. We gotta stand up for everyone because everyone is all of us.

That's why I generally vote for the furthest left candidate on my ballot - because I'm looking for the person who's gonna throw the least number of people under the bus. And that's why I yell at whoever represents me whenever they throw anyone under the bus. No one goes under the fucking bus.

I feel like, as a rule, we should also just invest in buses with breaks and bus drivers with good reflexes. (I am maybe a little foggy on what all the different parts of the metaphor represent, BUT IT CAN'T HURT, can it?)

Like Graham Platner? Like Sanders who called Planned Parenthood the establishment? Are women still not people? This is why I don’t trust the far left any more than anyone else.

It is important to recognize that just because someone CLAIMS they are the furthest left does not mean they are. Platner was obviously not, despite claiming to support some "left" policies. Bernie does not act as progressive as he claims to be either.

Anyone who thought Platner was left does not understand what the actual left stands for. That, and they weren't paying any attention to what they dug up on his past. He was never left. Center-right like the corpo dems? Possibly. Left? Never. Sanders turned out to be a huge disappointment.

Nope! Platner was obviously a piece of shit from the beginning and I never supported him. He was pretty clearly poised to throw a lot of us under the bus. That's why I say I "generally" support the furthest left candidate - not always. Sometimes individual candidates are untrustworthy assholes!

This is also why I'm so committed to solidarity between groups. We all gotta stick together and stand up for each other to make it through. The Lander/Mamdani alliance/friendship and all the groups that support Muslim and Jewish solidarity is just one inspiring example. bsky.app/profile/greg...

A HUGE crowd, with a couple hundred lined up to get pictures with Lander afterwards. A whole lotta people love this guy. Multiple speakers talked about his years of solidarity and that Muslim and Jewish safety are the SAME THING.
