Latest installment of my newsletter is out, and you don't even have to read it! Buttondown grabbed the funniest joke for the link card. (Not pictured: writing updates, some chapter title reveals, a couple mini book reviews, some gentle wallowing, and a few jokes that HAVEN'T been spoiled yet.)

"This could have been an email." Aragorn whispers. "He ALWAYS pulls this shit in 'Any Other Business" Boromir replies, quietly. "It's why Faramir marked himself as busy when the invite went out."

The Shire-Reckoning@shire-reckoning.bsky.social

Elrond tells the long story of the One Ring, from its forging in the Mountain of Fire, to its betrayal of Isildur at the Gladden Fields. Frodo is startled to learn that Elrond himself marched with Gil-Galad in the Last Alliance against Sauron, more than three thousand years ago.

Apologies! In my previous, now deleted post, I confused PHP with PCP. I did NOT use PHP in Tijuana in the late 90s. My apologies for the confusion.

My doctor's telehealth app is very slick, but my blurred background is BARELY out of focus. If I had 30 more seconds, I would run and get a sheet to cover... [looking behind me] ...all of THAT.

So we fly a pride flag in our front yard in a very conservative neighborhood and it’s been there for the last few years. Someone put this in our mailbox and my goodness…

"How do the cyclopses vote?" "EYE!" "How do the centaurs vote?" "Neigh." "Pandora's Box?" "Present." "Motion is tabled. We'll try again tomorrow."

The MC from my sci-fi/fantasy book series set in the 201st century just got an email from a (presumably 21st century) tech recruiter. Might this be a scam???

I am so sorry. I finally worked out the inevitable ending of the children's sci-fi/fantasy novel that I'm writing and *I* was crying when it came together. Apologies in advance to the six children who will read this.

You know, the thing is, I had drafted this piece a month ago, and then never published it, because I thought maybe it was too mean.

I’m working on The Audacity Graphic Novel 2 finally! It’s tough getting motivation when there’s not a lot of feedback, though. I didn’t get much traction on Webtoons. Any suggestions about where I should host it? #indiecomics

113 pages into writing my new novel, PERCIVAL GYNT AND THE ACADEMY OF DEATH, and I have finally reached the chapter titled "and the Academy of Death." Which is exciting and also, yes I am a huge, huge dork*. #amwriting

(*Every one of the Percival Gynt books does some version of the "name of the book is the name of a chapter" gag, but this is by far the silliest version of that gag. For a chapter that is... mostly not those things.)

Trying to determine how to communicate with my 10yo via the remote control settings on our robot litter box. Um. Just in case I get trapped in the Upsidedown.

Some say the world will end in fury, Some say fast. From when I've driven in a hurry I side with those who favor fury. But if my racecar finished last, I think I'd buy some nitro To make my racecar extra fast And go go go When I hit the gas.

Wow. Just used Google today after a long time using DuckDuckGo. Google is basically unusable now. Amazing how quickly it has become enshitified.

I kinda feel like mergers should be illegal. It's always just layoffs and massive debt. Maybe let's just do spin-offs for the next 60 or 70 years?!?

Okay, so I cut the last couple of pages and now I am back to 99. Chapter needed to end MUCH QUICKER. Cut material being reworked into next chapter. Possibly losing a couple of the best jokes but that's life... #amwriting

I've hit page 100 on the new book. Ironically (or not ironically?) it's a bit of a mess and probably won't survive editing. (The 100th page specifically. Pages 1-99 are pretty great.) Odds are looking up for having something new out next year! #amwriting
