So. . .is the movie actually good or no? All I know is it's best to take review scores with a grain of salt.

well according to the only critic i truly put my faith in, Andre from GameXplain, it was kinda disappointing.

Didn't GameXplain do something bad as a brand? I think their workers were overworked or something.

I mean, do you usually care what critics think? Do you watch lots of movies, or just what's popular? Did you think the first one was great? By most accounts, it's not a good movie, but that doesn't mean you won't enjoy it. Especially if you thought the first was good.

A lot of film studios forgot that in order to do a fanchise you need one of the movies to have a plot

It has to piss off Nintendo something fierce that Sonic has turned into a movie juggernaut, beloved by kids and relatively well received by critics, while the Mario movies are.....the way that they are.

you'd be surprised, nintendo are a very aggressively self-conscious company and hate to settle for anything other than critical acclaim (don't bother citing pokemon, that's a second-party issue)

It’s wild that people think critic reviews are everything for movies when the box office proves otherwise.

it’s a mario movie sequel cranked out by a studio that spent its time prior to making the first one cramming minions and anthologies of music videos made for low effort cover versions of FM radio hits starring cartoon animals down everyone’s eyeballs for over a decade, the bar is quite low indeed

Reading through the reviews and the only positive ones are like "fans will like it" or "kids will like it". It's funny that both groups are seemingly incapable of needing a good movie to be satisfied in the eyes of film critics and I think that's really insulting to children.

I think we should give children substance Genuinely even if they don't understand everything they are shown it's like. It gets the gears turning in their heads. It's good. We shouldn't be keeping everything on their level forever

the ironic part is fans will not be happy EITHER because they ALSO wanted a good film and not a reference-a-thon literally only kids will like it and that's only because tiktok has rotted their brains away entirely

The first movie was a reference-a-thon and I fucking loved that. The brothers are introduced with a new arrangement of the Mario Super Show song in their commercial followed by Mario’s actor playing Jumpman in a Punch-Out bar going “hoo-hoo!” m.youtube.com/watch?v=j6dh...

Sometimes there isn't anything wrong with an easy popcorn movie, but that's what the last one was. The series has gotta evolve
