hearing the presumably baseless rumour that star wars is going to retcon the sequel trilogy out of existence and choosing to believe it. that would be such a terrible decision and also just endlessly funny

Unironicly that would be the best thing they could do but of course its ruined by anti woke freaks and made it into a cultural war while lot of the old guard is gone now so would not matter anyhow as much.... What is the like, 10th time they did this?

star wars is, at the end of the day, a very simple series of blockbuster movies for normal people. the mass audience for every star wars movie is not one that should know or care about alternate timelines or retcons. this move would make star wars more of an insular nerd series, not less

i was thinking about this the other day, the current star wars tv show is about darth maul after he survived one death but before his second death trying to reassemble a criminal empire he already controlled twice fighting guys who die in three other different stories, its so recursive

(This may be an opinion largely formed by us only having the prequel trilogy to watch when I lived without internet and then finally watching 4-6 years and years later and not really getting the hype and then 789 happened and lmao. I liked rogue one somewhat)

This would be deranged and it's more likely they just ignore it until people who grew up with it become the primary demo, but at the same time Disney basically had every individual piece of that trilogy be an attempt to backtrack on what it was assumed people didn't like before so... maybe...

It really is something to me that the quality isn't even the main factor here. Like, they blew up Satan From The Hit Book The Bible, and physically destroyed the concept of evil forever. You can't do anything after TRoS because the conflict is, literally and physically, fucking dead
