is a single one of the xbox studio leads, whose legs have very demonstrably been cut out from underneath them by management, actually going to stick up for their guys

No, Doom maker id Software hasn't been "nerfed into the ground and gutted" by the Xbox cuts, insists director Hugo Martin www.eurogamer.net/id-software-...

microsoft do not care about video games. they want military contracts and ai growth forever. your creative career is not just a rounding error, it is to them a mistake they are actively trying to correct. if you're one of the privileged few big name directors your best move is to quit in solidarity

i'm not asking for class solidarity obviously thats never going to happen in the games industry, but just some artistic integrity. any director above a certain level of clout would walk away from a movie their crew was suddenly cut in half without their consent

It's so depressing that Microsoft bought up a massive chunk of the industry and then threw it away because they can only make a few percent profit compared to the orders of magnitude more in AI. Capitalism will just always ruin art

@curiousquail.com I somewhat disagree when gaming made up 40% of their revenue at one point. They do care.....especially if it makes them money but yes they also would favor the military as it would be a big spender, & stable As enterprise has been AI is unstable but profitable. It's all about $$$

yes and no. It's still a big chunk, pretty sure less now, though couldn't say exactly how much. And yes AI isn't profitable but it's more equivalent to hot potato, as long as you're not left holding when the music stops, it is profitable with investment. The gamble still remains though
