over the past year i've seen much discussion from fans of various genres and niches that struggle finding new players they every time boil down to one unsolvable problem: no one plays our game, despite it being good. but ten million people play league of legends every day. so what the fuck

The competitive ranked ladder is scientifically engineered to destroy your soul and league of legends has spent 15 years crafting the most self destructive of all ranked ladders

I don’t know jack about LoL, but with Fortnight it’s just a FOMO hellscape storefront with a game attached that tries to automatically install itself to your system like a virus when you install Epic Games Store. The whole point is getting people entrenched by the balls and never letting go.

I realized that driving anywhere in America feels exactly like queuing for a League match (except you can die in real life), and ultimately all I can conclude from this is that massive swathes of the population would simply choose not to be happy.

It’s twofold. League’s new user onboarding is having someone explain to you all the bullshit so you can play with friends. League is a cognitohazard where you somehow remember everything you’ve picked up. Heart of Gold hasn’t been in the main game for 14 fucking years and I remember what it did.

League is a friend game You don't need to know a lot to play it, one friend can introduce you to it and after a few weeks of banter and learning, you get the jist of it, then sites tell you what to build and do without having to think or practice It is, as shocking as it is, a friend game

Most people have discovered the game because they know someone playing it, the game can sustain growth (even not a huge one) by words of mouth. Arcane helps people get into it as well Most games don't have the money for it-

Fighting game ppl still doing it lol. All the constant stuff about oh we need campaigns, we need better tutorials, we need the game to be easier. Meanwhile league with no campaign, no good tutorial, harder than fighting games, and 1000x more popular.
