the total failure of every negative policy the british government implements is always, always evidence for doing that policy even harder. then it fails again. then we just do it harder again. rinse and repeat til everything is banned

The UK is truly terrifying because it is just a consistent daily reminder that 'actually it *could* be worse'.

The more things that everyone does every day that becomes criminalised, the more discretion can be exercised at any time by police about who can be prosecuted or not, on a whim.

Something something 50% of over-60 Brexit leave voters were dead 1 year after the referendum, something something we had a chance to stop all this in 2019 but the right wing inside Labour decided to neolib all over the place as per fucking usual God I hate it here

This stuff was always an insidious way to try and control children but we are less than a year out from Blair era policy suggestions like "Teenagers are scary so they can't have phones any more"

drives me crazy that growing up i could not turn around without seeing a different right wing complaint about our censorious nanny state, a sentiment they rode all the way to brexit, but it turns out they just meant "health and safety laws" and "human rights agreements." this shit is fine

you see it especially in the sort of women that listen to radio 4 and write for newspapers but they genuinely are convinced that all men will start being lovely again if they could just get inside their head and turn off the libido

every time i am miserable and hopeless in the uk with no opportunities or future or hope that anything will ever get better i like to take deep breaths and say "we voted for this. we deserve this. this is our fate" then continue on with my day
