Yup glad to see a little Bad Religion on here, but it’s one of their few songs that’s not overtly political. Try “Kyoto Now!” and “The Empire Strikes First”. My playlist also has a lot of Rage Against the Machine and System of a Down. Also strongly recommend Delilah Bon’s “Not the President”.

Would love to see it. This is the one I’ve been working on, and it’s separate from my punk one which is full of songs. bsky.app/profile/sila...

Okay help me out. What’s missing from my political protest playlist? I plan on organizing it by genre before sharing the link (and replicating it on Spotify for people who use that), so I apologize that’s it’s scattered right now. A range of genres, but I know there’s more out there!

Song requests: BYOB-System of a Down. "Marching forward, hypocritic and hypnotic computers. You depend on our protection! Yet you feed us lies from the tablecloth." Toxicity -System of a Down. "You! What do you own the world? How do you own disorder, disorder?"

It’s been on mine. Along with one of my favorite bands, The Muslims who have a song called “Fuck these Fuckin’ Fascists.” bsky.app/profile/sila...

Protest songs by R&B, soul and jazz artists like Roberta Flack, Isley Brothers, Temptations, Marvin Gaye, the Staple Singers, Nina Simone, Sly & The Family Stone, Billie Holliday, Les McCann and on and on and … their lyrics still hold true today. Sadly.

Don’t Dream It’s Over - Crowded House I Won’t Back Down - Tom Petty Talking About a Revolution - Tracy Chapman Won’t Give In - Finn Brothers This is Why We Fight - The Decemberists All is Not Lost - OK Go

-I'm not ready to make nice by the Chicks (written in response to the backlash during GWB presidency) -Democracy by Lumineers -American Soul by U2 -This is Why We Fight by the Decemberists are some on my list

We need large scale rallies with music, popular figures, and tens of thousands in the same place to find a massive sense of unity at this time. Stadiums, arenas, once a month. We need to show the power of numbers. Call it "Democracy 2025"
