Throughout history, people have protested authoritarian governments with a unifying color to symbolize their peaceful resistance. Our movement is no different. Yellow is a bright, unmistakable reminder that millions of us stand together in the belief that America belongs to its people — not kings.

2. Although yellow was indeed used by the pro-democracy movement in the Philippines back in the 1980's, that's now 40-year-old history. A much more recent use of yellow by a movement is to represent the PRO-coup, PRO-monarchy forces in Thailand. Ref: www.bbc.com/news/world-a... #NoKings #NoYellow

bbc.comProfile: Thailand's reds and yellowsThe BBC looks at the two opposing camps that usually drive protests in Thailand - the red-shirts and the yellow-shirts.

From the BBC article: "[Yellow is] A loose grouping of royalists, ultra-nationalists and the urban middle class..." "The yellow-shirts... were the force behind the street protests that led to the 2006 coup."

I see lots of complaining/resistance to this. Nobody's MAKING you wear yellow. Do you have any idea how hard it is to come to a consensus on things like this? If they decided on yellow, yellow it is. Appreciate their amazing organizing efforts. We can't be divided over silly things. Just show up.

Wear it!! I'm in Portland and I very much appreciate the support. I think I'll look for one (frog green hat) as well. I don't own anything yellow, and it won't matter because it's October and I'll be wearing a coat. That won't be yellow.

Love all of indivisible's amazing work, except for instructing us to wear yellow with 4 days notice. Yellow is the least likely color to be in everyone's closet. Yikes.
