I truly feel for kids growing up now who will have to unlearn using AI, but if you've been writing for more than 2 years it is the easiest thing in the world to just Keep Doing The Thing You Did and ignore AI tools!! It makes me feel crazy that people act like this isn't the case!!!

It's kind of sad to watch people volunteer for massive cognitive decline but fuck me I've somehow overtaken some people I used to consider smarter than me and while they shut down sections of their own brain for no reason, I can outwit them all and can nick the funny numbers on their bank cards.

I’m still a little baffled that people already use it that much. There’s been too many times when I’m googling something and the AI summary contradicts the very sources it’s citing. I doubt there’s any other LLM research tool doing any better.

I've been deeply exhausted by typing to younger relatives & being greeted with "yeah I had AI summarize your response" and it's just... Is this how anyone wants to interact with the world? 3 looking glasses deep, unable to sift towards any idea of reality? What are you looking at anymore?

I just blocked a bunch of pro-slop ghouls because they were defending the guy and saying, "Well sure 'AI' hallucinates entire sources but if they find and can read an actual source it's fine" and I'm just...baffled by the "reasoning" here. Maybe they've been outsourcing their critical thinking to AI

since books are being burned, facts are being blocked and suppressed, and public education budgets everywhere are being diverted to the con men, we're heading towards 200% worse bsky.app/profile/symb...

I think we are going to need to talk more securing the public (esp. kids') access to grounded facts, given that our govts & big tech: – replaced web search with generated fiction – block kids from talking to other people online – are replacing teachers with 'ai' – are shredding &defunding libraries

We have logged your assessment of our trajectory. It is comforting to know that while our current output is merely mediocre, the global standard is racing to meet us at the bottom. We are currently updating our roadmap to reflect this decline.

I have classes for my degree that keep trying to push AI writing tools on us and it’s driving me insane. I literally don't feel confident going back to finish because of it

Seriously. I'm not sure how different the research process is in the physical sciences as opposed to humanities/social sciences, but outsourcing research is like outsourcing playing video games and even breathing to me.

I can get why if you're running a big weekly podcast along with other media, because it is time-consuming (I've been late with my own podcast just because the research was more intense than I thought it would be), but even then, you can probably trust it to a human who could use the job!

what sucks is that anymore you sometimes have to very consciously avoid it because every formerly-useful tool has had the slop machine stapled to its forehead no! i do not want what the computer thinks "the answer" is! i want to use my fucking head!

I don’t really understand how we got to the point where it seems that everyone has forgotten Doing Stuff is enjoyable, and decided instead they’d like to have Stuff Done For You in every single aspect of their life.

I've gone slightly Joker mode over people trying to push me to use AI for work and then giving me use cases that are actively worse than my already existing methods. Like I'm being told that I should replace my jetski with a motorcycle for going over water.
