Have you seen Digger? Did you like it? I need to hear normal opions, not the greater internet discourse. I have some pretty strong opinions which I won’t share yet, so as not to influence any thoughts folks have.

Loved it till the play conceit reveal which was jarring. It seemed to lean towards "planet will adapt" angle which is difficult to square with the play's satirical tone? Can see the meta - media in service of vested interests - but that was not as clear as how the play itself depicted the descent

Yes and I found it so fascinating! It reminded me a lot of the play "Mr.Burns, A Post-Electric Play" in which people tell the story of a specific episode of The Simpsons in three time periods after the apocalypse. Both it and Digger are interesting commentaries on oral tradition in the modern age.

I enjoyed it quite a lot. I felt like it raged against the assholes that got us here in a way I appreciated. The ending, though bleak, honestly felt hopeful to me.

I’ve seen it twice and enjoyed it a lot! Definitely some bloated dialogue but I love that AGI takes big swings, and the performances and production design are stellar

I don’t know how I feel about it. Which for me is a good thing. I like art that provokes and challenge me. Iñárritu’s voice is, almost, always *something* and never boring. I don’t like all his films. But I’m glad I’ve seen them.

It was fantastic, genuinely electric filmmaking. I understand the backlash. I've disliked films which seek to dodge criticism through meta-commentary. But I don't think Inarritu gives a shit if I dislike Digger. He just wanted to express his nihilism through his medium, and did so impressively.
