pragmatic, awful truth

my hot take is that x is in fact still important for anyone following international affairs. but given how noticeably and publicly brains get pickled from x-immersion, i think anyone with a medical history of being a dope (for example, crypto-optimism) should practice self care and abstain

I treat X like 6 o'clock news from 40 years ago, a daily "stay up to date" news dump. On weekends, I do deeper dives, like I used to with the Sunday paper. I question the benefits from "up to the minute" or even "up to the hour" news tracking. Outside of morbid curiosity, what's the value?

There's not a lot for me, though I'm tasked with tracking specific people who essentially only post there. In broader geopolitics, there are some politicians for which the same can be said, though I'd still the question the value of this output (it's all posturing, at the end of the day).

I did a deep dive into my media consumption habits from about 1986 (age 12) through 2016 and determined/decided that just in time news was a net negative for my mental state and for actually doing something about those issues. Doom scrolling had replaced action, so I stopped, entirely.
