Minor job update: I'm now "Senior Analyst, Microprocessor Report," meaning I get to spend more of my work day writing alternatingly philosophical and technical articles about microprocessors than I already did. Best job in the world.

between serbia, brazil, and hopefully november 3, a good reminder: voting works it’s not the end, there’s always work to be done after the vote, but if you want to beat the motherfuckers and keep them out of power: vote your asses off

Goldman Sachs CEO on AI’s economic impact: ‘There’s very little that we do where we need frontier models’ We spent 2026 being told that generative AI was transforming society. Now we're back to "just wait until the next model!" boostering. Well, it turns ou, few need or want that next model.

It is *extremely strange*, as Jeffrey describes here, that NVIDIA’s review embargo prohibits disclosures about the battery life of the RTX Spark platform in the initial review cycle.

my hot take is that x is in fact still important for anyone following international affairs. but given how noticeably and publicly brains get pickled from x-immersion, i think anyone with a medical history of being a dope (for example, crypto-optimism) should practice self care and abstain

Y’all the largest conference for women in computing (of all types and flavors) that was supposed to happen at the end of the month… … just emailed everyone and said it’s being cancelled for lack of funds. Like, I’m at a loss for words. How.

It's one thing for CEOs to have a cult of personality and be thought of as celebrities (still weird), but it's just sad when people project (i.e., slop) their own opinions of what CEOs are like and what they think, and how they speak.

It is true that tech and AI conversation on X is more liquid and faster to curate into your feed than it is on Bluesky. That conversation is also mostly engagement-hacked slop.

if you have two options for why an AI agent says "good luck"—an emergent property of statistical language prediction, or a hidden emotional interiority—and only one of those is a function of the program you can point to, then it's an outlandish claim to imply the second is possible

I've got a Windows 11 system powered on today. Between MacOS, Windows, and Linux (Fedora, so DNF), the Windows update process is genuinely rather miserable.
