Post

Posting this preemptively in case someone reads my novels and wants to question if my belief system aligns with every action and every line that is written, including the morals of the villains in the story, or even of the hero when he's being an imperfect dick.

This discourse has laid bare the poor relationship some folk have with media and media literacy. I personally feel, considering the context of the furry community and the Mormon stance on LGBTQ+ rights, it warranted a more discerning inspection but I don't think people are being fair about it.

Like it seems to me the characters are the one saying these things and it appears to be in context with the story being told. It doesn't come off as an endorsement per se but more as an unfiltered life experience being distilled through characters to act as the vehicle for the overall story.

How would you go about distinguishing between showcasing a life experience vs endorsing the material presented? Because that's the question here. One group is saying it's the former, others the latter. How are you determining which one it is, especially when the creator refuses to clarify?

Wait... you have a b&w VN? What do you have against colors? Does that mean it is anti gay / rainbows? I haven't seen you deny it, so I am going to assume it's anti gay now.

No no no... people can't have a meta-layer of thoughts. Every story ever written is always 100% the will and want of the author. With no exceptions. Thus every author writing bad things should be held accountable for thought-crimes. Ah -I came accross the stupid pills... agains. Why do I keep them?

I would think, Joaquin, that if someone did ask you about your stance/position on something in your books, you would probably answer them in an easy and straightforward manner and not immediately go on the attack against them across social media, along with avoiding answering the question at all.

Here's the context: bsky.app/profile/zang... You can read their original comment on the VN page in the second post in that thread.

Writing a few posts to counter the rumor mill this FVN dev is spinning up by subtweeting me and brigading my critique on his project's itch page. (Unfortunately he blocked me so I can't quote-retweet the original post.)

Maybe go full circle and have every character in the novels at some point break the fourth wall and say "I am not the author and my opinions and actions are not a reflection of the author's beliefs" (It gets repetitive when you have too many characters, but better safe than sorry).

The fact that we have to write something like this... Why are so many people exhaustingly steeped in bad faith to the point of blind judgment? I'd love to know which secret society is responsible for driving so much fear into the world while trying to control the masses with it. #villainarcbegins
