musk is genuinely not very bright and it's never been subtle, which makes the 15+ year tech press effort to mythologize him all the more embarrassing

there's a funny thing where, like, an important skill in raising money for tech ventures is to distill technical complexity WAY down so that the money people grasp it, and he is very good at SEEMING like he's doing that when actually he is just misunderstanding the complexity from first principles

yep he's a bullshitting opportunist exploiting lazy U.S. tech journalism (he then whines about and punishes if they ask real questions)

god knows lazy tech journalism deserves the shade but it also works on more bankers and nasa administrators and ambitious politicians than one would hope

For the media, wealth is equated to intelligence, which just ain’t so. He bought control of the companies that he now has, and somehow that enhanced his ‘genius’ even more. 🙄
