To be clear Larry Ellison, a billionaire Trump donor who believed the 2020 election was stolen from Trump, used his own money to buy CBS and install his son as the boss. They'll then convert CBS into another right wing propaganda mill like Fox News. It's not really subtle!

meanwhile you have Schumer over here trying to leverage the Epstein scandal to "pressure" the FCC to drop a fake investigation into CBS (which would have been dropped anyway because it no longer serves its function of bullying CBS). With no mention of what Republicans are actually doing.

very very few Dems are competently able to message what the Republicans are doing to U.S. journalism, the media, and informed consensus. It's very very bad and the hour is getting very very late.

Congress People and also many journalists seem to be in shock and are unable to articulate these censorship attempts to raise awareness about these attacks on the Freedom of the Press. Informing the public is the only thing both Congressional minorities and journalists can do imo.

democrats have found themselves in the uncomfortable position of being exactly as beholden to billionaires as republicans, so they feel they can't cross ellison or any media or tech billionaires. same reason newsome gushes about how he admires the fascist musk. they are cowed by the money.

He's calling out Carr's double standard, not just asking to drop the investigation. But it is also true that on the right, pundits would have a field day with even something like this (and do every time James Comer writes a letter). Why weren't more lefty pundits magnifying Durbin's letter today?
