Matty Yglesias personifies the trolling, soulless fail-upward engagement hounding pseudo-intellectual brunchlord bullshit that has devoured modern American media

Yglesias has perfected this thing where you can't tell if he's trolling or ignorant or both, but you'll notice he just endlessly fails upward as more talented writers (especially minority women) get discarded by major outlets like WAPO

I moved from NY To Seattle 8 years ago and I'm still stunned by the ease, quality, and convenience of mail-in voting every time I stumble to the mailbox in my PJ pants, ballot in hand the wealthy and powerful hate mail-in-voting because the results more accurately reflect the broader public will

The point of the article is that the latest research shows the popular will favors Trump/the GOP when more low-propensity voters actually vote and that Trump/the wealthy and powerful are working against their own interests by trying to eliminate mail-in voting (which wasn’t the case a decade ago)

also is it really that fucking difficult to understand that there is no compromising or dealmaking with radical authoritarian zealots? They are a harmful and purely extractive cancer. no promises they make (or deals you can strike) are worth anything. They have to be destroyed, completely.

The voter ID point is also impressively disengenuous. It *sounds* like he's making an argument, but he phrases it so broadly that it amounts to nothing. If opposition to voter ID is a huge electoral burden, you have to prove that. If it literallly just costs Dems "a few votes," why do we care?

It helps to have a room-temperature IQ or better, and also the ability to see, hear, and read. Qualities that are apparently lacking in almost every corporate leader, university administrator, or high Dem official in America. (Watching Muriel Bowser and Kathy Hochul this week confirms this.)

His reasoning is completely made up, also. Republicans are against mail in voting because they know it’s advantageous to Democrats. Period. And no one is voting against Democrats over mail in voting. Completely fantastical. I don’t think he wants liberals to win another election.

I’m wealthy (but not powerful) and I am like many people who live abroad and rely on mail in ballots which we call absentee ballots. We pay our share in taxes but if we can’t be represented except by travelling to a polling booth, that wouldn’t be fair!
