being honest about what Republicans actually are upsets Republican sources, readers, event sponsors, and ownership, costing corporate media money so you get this bizarre kayfabe where Republicans are given bottomless credibility they never had to earn

"kayfabe" really is the best way to describe it. Consider yesterday where trump acknowledged the only reason he isn't calling the Iran situation a "war" is because if he does, *then* he needs congressional approval. But if he just calls it something else, he thinks he gets to do whatever he wants.

Trump: I won't use the word war because they say if you use the word war, that's maybe not a good thing to do. They don't like the word war because you are supposed to get approval. So I will use the word military operation.

this happens on free speech, "reining in big tech," racism, antitrust reform, regulatory integrity, economic savvy, immigration, overall policy, general competency, patriotism, and every other subject and concept imaginable

Thug power is underrated. In attempts 2B "fair" to both sides--especially the thuggish side that threatens to destroy media businesses they complain about--media end up giving the advantage to the thuggish side. GOP has much more power--even when Dems are in charge--bc its thug power is so large.
