you'd think the fact that the federal government is too corrupt to function in the public interest, and that all of our environmental, public safety, labor, and consumer rights regulators have been defanged would be a bigger story

like it doesn't matter what story you're writing (guns, health, telecom, AI, whatever) the fact that our federal regulators are now made out of still-damp paper mache would be a relevant factoid to include for your readership

"the government is looking to build a regulatory framework for AI" please, tell me more. Which member of the autocratic corruption brain trust will write it and which one of our underfunded/understaffed and legally boxed in regulators are enforcing it

So old I remember elation on NYT national desk when Reagan fired the air traffic controllers. And then they came for the Newspaper Guild. There's a reason "news" outlets have business desks but not labor desks...

I always appreciate how labor and consumer issues just don't merit much attention in ANY of the reporting, business focused or otherwise

The "news" outlets are busy pursuing their own corruption. bsky.app/profile/stat...

What counts are issues from which we are distracted. But these are all issues of Technological Citizenship and the social contract for the technoscientific society. Amid complicated harms--and our very lives--something's gotta gov. My mama told me, you'd better chaperone.

Screw wormed filth republican leadership is right up there at the top story imo. My complaint is they don't use the words I use to describe them. But then, children could be listening.

Damn. I hope someone is keeping track of all these horrible “bills” and Executive Orders. Then when sanity rules again, may they all be overturned in 1 huge “Fix the Fuckup” bill of our own.

corporate media at its worst when it comes to covering itself and that's saying something given how shitty political and business journalism is
