I don't think he realized how close OG was behind him until it was too late. He thought the layup would be easier than it was. I still think he got fouled, but not shocked the refs didn't whistle the body contact in that big of a moment.

If he spins backwards, he can likely get it under 10 seconds and potentially even find a trailing teammate to pass the ball to. While a layup is generally seen as a high percentage play, Fox is not an overly strong finisher and OG is the most ferocious defender the Knicks have. It was a poor choice.

totally this for me. he's wasting what, a second from 12? versus the chance to guarantee you don't lose in regulation with the made layup

I’m sure he was thinking layup/foul/and one is much better than just getting fouled.

Not when its OG at the rim. Easily the best transition defender in the NBA right now
