China was a whole bunch of separate countries then, and they were not called separate “dialects", they were called separate “languages”. I think that’s also the time when most of the interesting scientific developments happened in China -- before unification. Coincidence? You be the judge.

There is also this cool story on how he met Laozi and he described him as a dragon. Problem is the story is just a Daoist fable so not really true but there is a cool lesson from it.
