NYC is definitely more bike friendly this time around. When I was last here, the Citibike stations were just being installed and there was a lot of controversy around the loss of Parking. Now it looks like the network is pretty extensive.

These cargo bike trailers are all around town. Bike lanes plus E bikes = bike logistics. (I wouldn’t mind having one of these trailers if I had somewhere to park it. )

I don’t think I’ve seen any fully separated lanes with barriers, but there are decent widths with a door swing separation to the parked cars

Ah there are some fully separated segments

And a few bike stop lights

Street cafes and bike parking: a solid tag team to take over a full block of what would have been car parkit

Six floors and corner stores

Same problem everywhere

The narrow streets require some active riding to avoid the frenetic flow of peds and delivery bikers. Reminds me of motoring around Bali. On the avenues it’s pretty smooth sailing. Car traffic is slow enough and the e bike isn’t too fast.

Got concrete barriers on this stretch. Overall the network is pretty well connected.

Lots of random pedestrians to avoid - but made it up to the MOMA. Beautiful day to be on a bike.

Much better than… bsky.app/profile/lane...

First time I’ve seen one of these

Over to Williamsburg

Ok that’s a wrap for the biking afternoon. Great way to see the city (and yell at DBs driving Lamborghini suvs) Now to find a brewery…
