Could someone from the party please explain the benefits of a customs union because as a standalone agreement I see very little changing? People are confusing it or seeing it as good as being in Single Market. UK will be without benefits of free movement and tied into EU trade policy with no input.

The coalition had left office before the Conservatives brought forward the referendum. The Lib Dems in government prevented it happening.

I doubt the EU will be willing to give the UK full access to the EU Customs Union. It would be more realistic to seek "A" Customs Union perhaps giving GB the same access as NI or perhaps Turquie, and then look to work from there sfterwards
