Paging Andy Fucking Burnham...

Aurelien Mondon@aurelmondon.com

The news from Brazil and Serbia are great and show that you don't defeat the far right by copying it or trying to appeal to their supporters You do it by being uncompromising, showing the danger they pose and offering something different to the many crises people suffer from

Absolutely this. Fascist oppressors always rely on the oppressed giving up. How many transphobes have published performative media propaganda in recent years claiming the GC fight against “transgender ideology” to be “over”…? Never give up. We’re all worth fighting for & we’re still here.

Jess O'Thomson@jessothomson.co.uk

Both of these results today go to show just how antifascists can mobilise. Fascists have an entire apparatus to make their victory feel inevitable. It is not. To crush hope. But hope lives on whilst we keep it alive.

This “journalist” hasn’t tweeted since June, but somehow thought this article - about a TERF in Aus vexatiously complaining about a trans doctor, who already fled the UK to escape transphobic bullying - was vital to share! 😖 Did the media learn nothing from the hounding and death of Jason Arday? 😣

Just listen to this. Then consider these polls: 76% of Jewish Israelis think there are no innocents in Gaza (Aug 2025) 82% support expelling Palestinians from Gaza (May 2025) 47% support killing all inhabitants of conquered enemy cities (May 2025)

notice how andy burnham is unwilling to do *anything* progressive or helpful in this parliament? labour have like 3 years left on the clock and he's unwilling to do anything helpful. instead we're getting more austerity, more bigotry, and more corporate entanglement in our infrastructure.

Canada: “No to Trump” Hungary: “No to Trump” Albania: “No to Trump” Serbia: “No to Trump” Brazil: “No to Trump” Britain: “Yes to Trump.” “Drill for gas. Yessir! Drill for oil. Yessir! Bomb Iran. Yessir! Join the new Gulf war. Yessir! Weapons to Israel. Yessir! Copy MAGA transphobia. Yessir…!”

This is just the same as “How dare the RNLI save migrant lives in the Channel!” But I suspect the WRN would be outraged about the RNLI doing its job too.

The Women’s Rights Network are now attacking the mental health charity Mind for supporting trans people with their mental health during a time of unprecedented attacks on their rights. These are the “legitimate concerns” “worthy of respect in a democratic society” the Labour Party has normalised.

Meanwhile the coverage of the Lib Dems, currently with 71 MPs, remains restricted to what stunt Ed Davey has recently done, and when the Lib Dems were polling over 20%, the BBC based their non-coverage on number of MPs.

Alex Andreou@sturdyalex.bsky.social

This went on for the rest of the full hour, at which point the BBC apologised for having to go to the weather and urged viewers to follow continuing live coverage on iPlayer. Forty-one minutes of unfiltered, unchallenged propaganda by a far right party with 8 MPs, now third in the polls. Discuss.

This is big news. Ending the puberty-blocker ban in New Zealand is massive. It puts Cass & the entirety of Labour’s flagship anti-trans policies in doubt. Yet no mainstream media platform has even mentioned it. Indeed most alternative media, like @bylinetimes.bsky.social have failed to mention it.

New Zealand’s High Court ruled that restrictions on new prescriptions of puberty blockers for youth with gender dysphoria were unlawful, overturning the government’s policy restricting access for trans youth #NOH8

Andy Burnham’s Labour Party is as rightwing as the MAGA Republicans in Texas when it comes to the treatment of trans kids.

union person@junlper.beer

its insane how not many people are talking about how republicans with the help of several moderate democrats are building out the largest abusive medical conversion therapy operation in modern american history

i think "vote dem across the board, but for the 4 very worst dems on trans rights you can leave them blank" is a reasonable position (& a reasonable compromise between vbnmw & fears about dems going full uk labour)

The elections are on next Tuesday, and so much is at stake, including the soul of the Democratic Party when it comes to transgender people. I am asking you to leave a very small number of races blank in which a Democrat has embraced extreme anti-trans hate. I make my case here.

So much to say about Brazil, not least of which is the role that Erika Hilton, a Black trans leader and most voted woman politician in Brazil, played in mobilizing folks for Lula. She was behind the critical, concrete, economic promise of shorter work-week. theprint.in/feature/erik...

theprint.inWho is Erika Hilton? Black trans politician was one of Lula’s loudest campaignersErika Hilton’s electoral triumph comes amid a hostile environment. Brazil has the highest number of reported murders of transgender people in the world, with 80 recorded in 2025.

Bolsonaro-friendly mayors appear to be sabotaging public transport on Election Day. Buses aren’t running in Lula-friendly areas, flights and ferries mysteriously canceled. Traffic lights have gone out and people’s power cut in Salvador, indigenous people’s travel restricted

Another Jason Arday situation is starting to happen in front of our eyes and not even the alternative media is reporting it.

John Lees@johnlees.bsky.social

I want to ask reporters what else exactly they want from Beth Upton. They wanted her booted out of female changing rooms, they got it. They wanted her on trial for misconduct, they got it, she was found totally blameless. They wanted her publicly named and shamed in the media, they got it…

The Burnham government is happy to listen to transphobes galore but will move mountains to avoid listening to any trans people.

Mark Grimshaw@markgrimshawtism.bsky.social

If you thought the Conversion Practices Bill is already bad thanks to all the loopholes and allowances it provides, then don’t worry - it’s about to get worse. The Government are hearing “evidence” from anti-trans campaigners Helen Joyce, Dennis Kavanagh and the LGB Alliance this week.

Many of you know I maintain a list of 32 Democrats who have embraced anti-trans policy or run ads against us. I am not even asking my readers to abstain from all 32. Some have improved, and some may not meet your line. But I ask my readers to draw a line and refuse to elect the worst among them.

I agree with this strategy of voting for Dems provided that they haven't embraced extreme anti-trans positions. and I definitely agree that Kaptur, Cuellar, & Turek have all crossed that line & I personally wouldn't vote for them
