I think the Guardian have once again confused hating things with hating themselves.

People don’t hate Oxford Street. They hate shops full of souvenir tat, crappy Candy, noisy pedicabs, yobs on electric bikes and scooters. Everything resulting from years of Tory tax dodging, underfunding of law enforcement, homes for votes destruction of the local community. Time to stop the rot.
