What is common in your field but shocks outsiders? Translation is about 80% skill in your native language, 20% skill in your second language. It's not about knowing what is being said. Anyone can do that. It's about saying the same thing in a different language with the same emotional impact.

Eh, translation errors because a translator misunderstood the original text aren't exactly uncommon.
